ArtVaults is an annual project through which both contemporary arts and heritage are celebrated. Now in its fourth season, the project opens the medieval vaults in Southampton to showcase the work of an exciting array of emerging artists to a large and diverse public throughout the summer.

Last summer, Season Three attracted over 19,000 visitors, making it one of the largest and most popular art events in the south of England. ArtVaults Season Four is open to the public every weekend,12pm to 4.00pm, from 12th July until 21st September. Entry is free.

We believe that art can be many things, including painting, drawing and sculpture but also installations, photography, performance and the moving image. It can take up whole spaces or tiny corners, be imposing and impressive or discreet and beautiful. It might sometimes be controversial, and may not always be everyone’s taste - but should always be stimulating, new and certainly never dull!
